Attendance—Achievement is directly related to academic learning time—even at the kindergarten level. A tuition-free full-day kindergarten will be offered to all children. Half-day programming will no longer be offered at LCSC. Children are expected to be at school and on time every day. Student absences should be reported to the school office. For more information on attendance guidelines, contact your home school or refer to the LCSC Handbook.
Before and After School Care—The Lebanon Community School Corporation offers convenient before and after school care in each elementary school. Contact the BASE office at 765.482.0498 Ext. 17 for more information or to enroll your child.
Conferences—Parent and Teacher Conferences are held in the Fall. Conferences are an extension of the report card. Conference schedules differ by school. This is a time you and the teacher will discuss your child’s strengths and areas of improvement. Parents and teachers may also request a conference as needed at any time during the school year.
Curriculum—Students enter kindergarten with a variety of educational backgrounds, such as preschool, day care, and home. Some have the ability to read and write simple words, while others have yet to learn the alphabet. Kindergarten teachers use differentiated instruction to provide the appropriate learning situations for each individual child. By moving to a full-day program, our schools will have more flexibility in ensuring that your child receives any additional support and educational services. Lebanon Community School Corporation follows the Indiana State Standards for Kindergarten for growth towards mastery. A copy of these standards is available in each elementary school office.
Report Cards—Kindergarten teachers conduct ongoing assessments of student skills and learning activities. Kindergarten students receive assessment report cards to keep parents informed of their child’s progress after the conclusion of each quarterly grading period..
Special Area Classes—With the extension of kindergarten to a full-day program, LCSC may now offer special area classes such as art, music, physical education, library, and computer lab. The programs provide many enriching experiences for students and are a necessary addition to the kindergarten program.
Food Services—Lunch will be provided to all students attending full-day kindergarten. Applications for financial assistance are available at each school office. Anyone wishing to apply for the upcoming school year must resubmit an application, using the update application form. For more information, contact your school office or the Office of Food Services 765.483.3065.
Transportation—Full-day kindergarten students who reside in bus attendance areas are provided transportation to and from school. Transportation arrangements can be made at registration prior to the start of the school year. Changes in transportation arrangements need to be made at your school office or by contacting the Transportation Office 765.483.1499
